About the ECM-RM
The PowerLogic ECM-RM is an Ethernet Communications Module in the 3020 series by Square D(Schneider Electric.) The ECM-RM is an optional add-on module that allows up to eight devices to communicate together on the network. The ECM-RM can be used on new or existing local and wide area networks. It receives, converts, and transmits data from networked devices to your PC over Ethernet using Modbus TCP/IP protocol. This allows for offsite data analysis.
The ECM-RM is designed for remote mounting in situations when a circuit monitor is not present or a circuit monitor has an onboard I/O module.
The front of the ECM-RM module has five lights labeled thusly:
-
Serial TX
-
Serial Rx
-
E-net Act
-
Error
-
Link OK
The ECM-RM module is equipped with RS-485 data communications, wired at the top left of the unit. Five wires are labeled: Green In+, White In-, Red Out+, Black Out-, No No connection. The ECM-Rm is a 10Base unit and is 90 to 264 volts, 35VA, 50/60Hz.
The ECM-RM mounts with three screws, two on the left side and one on the right. It is UL listed and CSA compliant. This equipment complies with the requirements in part 15 of the FCC rules for Class A computing devices. If the ECM-RM is operated in a residential area it may cause unacceptable interference to radio and TV reception. The operator may need to take extra steps to correct that interference. Only qualified electrical personnel should install or upgrade the ECM-RM or its peripherals.
