About the IOM-44
The IOM-44, manufactured by Square D (Schneider Electric) in their PowerLogic line, is an I/O (Input/Output) module designed with the capability to allow MicroLogic 'full function' circuit breaker units to be linked together within a larger PowerLogic network.
The IOM-44 has four inputs and four outputs. One of the outputs is a solid-state KYZ relay that is rated 240VAC and 300VDC. This output has a maximum rating of 96mA. The KYZ relay is needed for any pulse applications. The KYZ relay is a Form-C relay. This relay is best used with very low burdens.
Three of the other outputs are also Form-C 10A mechanical relays. 10 amp relays have a limited life of about 10 million operations under no load or 100,000 operations under a load. Between these two types of outputs, the IOM-44 has the ability to detect over 100 alarm conditions. It can have more than one alarm condition assigned to one relay, once setpoints have been defined.
The Form-C 10A mechanical relays can be set up for mechanical tasks such as annunciating alarms or opening and closing circuit breakers. Mechanical outputs can be configured thusly:
It is worth noting the last seven modes in the above list are for pulse initiator applications, which should only be set up on the solid-state KYZ output.
The IOM-44 flush-mounts with four screws, distributed equally at the top and bottom corners of the module.
The current range for circuit monitor inputs is 0–7.4 A ac, and the nominal current is 5 A ac. For the circuit monitor voltage inputs for each channel, the voltage range is 0-180 VAC, and the typical nominal voltage is 120 VAC. For the control power input specifications, the AC input range is 100-264 VAC, the frequency range is 47-440 Hz, the typical burden is 14-19 VA, and the DC input range is 100-350 VDC.
