About the 3090-MCI101
The 3090-MCI101 is a Network Converter created by Square D. This converter may have also been released by Schneider Electric depending on what year it was produced. This part may also be found under the part number 3090-MCI-101.
The 3090-MCI101 was created as a PowerLogic RS-238 to RS-485 converter kit. This kit comes with the RS232/RS-485 conversion kit, a serial communications cable, and an RS-485 communications cable. It is considered to be a Multi-point Communications Interface. This converter can be used to plug into an SMS workstation and circuit monitors or power meters. This kit basically allows you the ability to daisy-chain multiple devices to a PC. The maximum daisy-chain distances are measured by the device’s baud rate and by what types of devices are included in the chain. To communicate to these devices, you need to have PowerLogic System Manager Software installed on your PC.
The serial cable provided in the kit has a DB9 female end and a DB25 male end. The female end plugs into the PC and the male end plugs into the converter. Before making any connections to the 3090-MCI101, make sure all power is off on the power supply. Then you can make the connections to the workstation and the circuit monitors and/or power meters. Following these steps will help to prevent personal injury due to electric shock or explosion.
