About the 8005-NLU-10
An 8005-NLU-10 is a Network Link Unit that was created by Schneider Electric Square-D for their SY/MAX Class 8005 series A1 of programmable controller hardware.
Using the 8005-NLU-10 and a remote interface unit 8005-RIU-10, a user has the ability to link a Model 50 programmable controller to a PC or to a SY/NET LAN network. Doing this will then create a total control system. The 8005-RIU-10 is sold separately from the 8005-NLU-10.
The 8005-NLU-10 is a small rectangular box that is roughly 0.44 lbs. It is very simply designed. The circuit board and wiring is fully enclosed within its chassis. There is a small terminal strip on the faceplate. It has 6 terminal screws. These screws are labeled TXD-, TXD+, Shield, RXT-, RXT+, and Shield. Next to the terminal strip is a 9-pin female RS-232 communication port. This port can either be connected to a PC or directly to the SY/NET LAN network. There are four screws on each side of the module that secures the chassis onto the module. There is a bracket on the top and bottom of the module that can allow the user the ability to mount this unit to a flat surface. The brackets have a single factory-drilled hole on them. A screw and nut or washer can be used to help this module stay securely mounted to the flat surface. This unit should only be mounted horizontally to a vertical surface in an indoor location. Do not expose this module to liquids, excessive dust, or corrosive materials.
