About the 8030-CRM-232
The 8030-CRM-232 is a Remote Transfer Interface Module within the Square D Symax series of 8030 modules. This module typically works in conjunction with an 8030-CRM-230 Local Transfer Interface as part of a redundant processor control system. Square D interfaces are designed to be interchangeable but individual modules have different capabilities.
The 8030-CRM-232 is used for applications where downtime is unacceptable. It allows single faults to occur without interruptions to the system’s I/O control. The unit is used for communication between inputs and outputs to processors. The 8030-CRM-232 supervises the transfer of control during a fault state from a primary processor to a backup processor
The 8030-CRM-232 is UL listed. It is rated at 1.0 amps at 5 VDC. The unit has two communication channels and redundant serial transmitters and receivers. Wiring is done to a removable terminal block. The unit is built with six dip switches located on the rear of the module. These must be set to the proper configuration for the unit to operate properly. DIP switch settings can be found within Sy/Max documentation.
Before installing the 8030-CRM-232, power must be turned off to the rack assembly. Communication between this device and others within the rack system occurs across a twisted shielded communication cable.
