The Square D SY/MAX 8030-CRM-511 is a multimedia network interface module, mediating communication between a variety of controllers. The unit functions as an intermediary between SY/NET LAN and SY/MAX controllers, CRT programmers, or other compatible devices. Leased line and private carrier media allow for this inter-device communication. Point-to-point controller communication is available via satellite, broadband, microwave, radio, or other combined means through this interface module.

8030-CRM-511 supports two operating modes, the SY/MAX mode and NET-TO-NET mode. SY/MAX mode includes SY/MAX controllers, CRT programmers, IBM PCs with SY/MATE software, and other compatible devices. NET-TO-NET mode, on the other hand, allows communication between LANs with the use of another network interface module. This unit features 8 indicator lights for network connectivity and diagnostic purposes. Two thumbwheel switches can be found below the LED panel. These switches set the unit’s SY/NET network address. Two low-speed comm ports follow, featuring direct interface between the module and SY/MAX devices or other interface modules. A LAN port is found on the bottom of the unit, allowing for direct network access. As it is a smaller device, the unit measures only 1.5in (W) x 12.8in (H) x 6.6in (D) and weighs 2.7 ounces.

Adjusting operating parameters maintains proper channel delay and preserves data integrity. Ambient temperature of the operating facility should range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉, while storage temperatures can range from -40℃ to 80℃, or -40℉ to 176℉.
