The Square D SY/MAX 8030-CRM-512 is a 10 bit multimedia network interface module. While similar to earlier versions of this module, this unit features 10-bit format to communicate over networks that are not 11-bit format compatible. The module serves as a communicator between a connected SY/NET LAN and compatible devices such as controllers and programmers. Inter-device communication is possible via a leased line or private carrier media. Satellite, microwave, broadband, and other means allow for point-to-point controller communication.

Operating modes have been expanded to support both 10- and 11- bit formatting. SY/MAX BCC supports a standard 11-bit  SY/MAX while SY/MAX CRC supports 10-bit formatting between SY/MAX devices. NET-TO-NET BCC supports 11-bit network communications, while NET-TO-NET CRC allows 10-bit communication. 8030-CRM-512 features 8 indicator lights and two thumbwheel switches. Two COMM ports offer direct interfacing between module and other devices. A LAN port allows for direct network access to the module. A smaller device, it weighs 2.7 ounces and measures 1.5in (W) x 12.8in (H) x 6.6in (D).

Device integrity depends on proper configuration and storage. Adjustable operating parameters address the communication issues over leased line or private carrier media. By changing parameters, channel delay can be maintained while preserving the integrity of the device’s data. Temperatures of the operating facility should fall no lower than 32℉, or 0℃, and no higher than 140℉, or 60℃. When in storage ambient temperatures can range from -40℉ to 176℉, or -40℃ to 80℃.
