About the 8030-CRM-560
The Sy/Max Class 8030 Type CRM-560 Remote Network Interface Module (RNIM) enables monitoring, programming, and control of a network of Sy/Max programmable controllers at remote locations.
Remote network communication can be accomplished using half-duplex with Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), over a twisted pair connection, or other technologies.
Ideal for supervisory control and data acquisition systems requiring enhanced troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities, the CRM-560 at each location connects directly to the Sy/Net local area network (LAN) to achieve a remote area network.
The CRM-560 consists of a module that mounts in a register slot in a Sy/Max I/O rack. The CRM-560 also draws power from the rack. The front of the device has eight LEDs, two switches, and two communication ports (COMM ports).
Remote networking is applicable in monitoring or control environments where distance or physical barriers prevent direct cable connections. For example, some environments where the CRM-560 is useful are offshore drilling platforms, pipeline control stations, mining machinery, and distribution substations.
Remote networking is useful in reading and writing register data, reading and writing I/O status, processor programming, program upload and download, and processor diagnostics.
In environments where electrical devices or induced transients over communication lines are likely to cause hardware failures, install signal line protection devices.
To prevent possible equipment damage, do not remove the device while power is On. Turn the power supply switch to Off and wait until all indicator lights are Off before removing.
