The Square D SY/MAX 8030-CRM-601 is a dual interface converter module compatible with a variety of SY/MAX devices. All SY/MAX processors and intelligent devices are supported through this converter module. Usable for signal conversion, the module is able to convert RS-422 and RS-232 standards to allow for inter-device communication. 8030-CRM-601 also features a built-in carrier key for easy interfacing with a modem or radio frequency channel. This built-in feature allows for ½  duplex, timed communication over several modes of transmission. The mounting rack that the module is inserted in provides the 5 VDC power supply needed for operation.

A number of diagnostic features and ports are present on the front plate of 8030-CRM-601. Nine indicator lights found on the top of the converter module act as diagnostic and activity monitors. Found beneath the indicator light panel are two RS-232 ports for conversion inputs. Two RS-422 ports are next, with these ports connected to converter circuits in the corresponding RS-232 ports. The bottom of the front panel is completed with the two final contact ports. These carrier keying ports help to time data transmissions for seamless operational use. A standard interface module size, the unit weighs 2.7 pounds and measures 1.5in (W) x 12.8in (H) x 6.6in (D).

Proper mounting and installation protocols should be followed to preserve the integrity of the device. Maintaining an appropriate ambient operational temperature is necessary to protecting the module. Temperatures should fall no lower than 32℉, or 0℃, and raise no higher than 140℉, or 60℃.
