About the 8055-SCP-655R
The 8055-SCP-655R is a Model 650 Processor unit that was developed and manufactured by Square D. The 8055-SCP-655R processor is included in SY/MAX 8055 series of processors.
The 8055-SCP-655R processor has a built in ThinWire Ethernet port, which provides high speed, specifically 10 megabit/second, ethernet connection to one or more of the host computers and to other Model 650 processors. All Model 650 processors can be networked using the ThinWire components and can also be connected to existing ethernet networks. Also, a host computer is not required for ethernet communication between this and other Model 650 processors.
The Model 650 processors have many microprocessors as well as co-processors for peak performance. the Model 650 processors provide the user with the convenience of scan speeds that are lower than one millisecond per K of the device’s ladder logic. Additionally, the scan processor, which is a math co-processor that provides the device with an acceleration of math operations while a separate Motorola processor and AMD ethernet controller provide the device with ethernet communications
There are eight LED indicator lights on the front of the 8055-SCP-655R processor, and those are listed from top to bottom as follows: “RUN,” “HALT,” “MEMORY,” “FORCE,” “I/O,” “BATTERY LOW,” “WRITE PROTECT,” and “ETHERNET COMM ERROR.” Below that, there is a small door that houses an on board AA lithium battery. Below that, there is a key switch that has the following four positions from right to left: “RUN PROGRAM,” “RUN,” “HALT,” and “DISABLE OUTPUTS.” Below that, there is a small port that is labeled as “PRGMR CHNL 1” and a port on the bottom that is labeled as the “COMM CHNL 2.”
